Fish Tales Lakeside Grille is our favorite restaurant for lakeside dining on Lake Lanier! Really great food is the main reason, because they are famous for their "fish tales:" fried grouper strips which can be enjoyed in a basket or on a sandwich. Their chefs know “how to fry” because everything fried is crispy and crunchy, including seafood, fries, and onion rings. Of course the menu offers many things including steak, salads, sandwiches, etc. 4.5 stars on Google ratings so among the top places to dine.
There is indoor and outdoor seating and the atmosphere is wonderful since the restaurant is at Safe Harbor Hideaway Bay Marina, so lots of boats docked outside, and we usually take guests by boat to Fish Tales when we are entertaining friends on our boat. Sometimes on weekends they have singers performing on the patio while you dine. The restaurant has a large sandy beach play area where kids love to play!
The only downside is a 30-minute trip by car: south on Jot ‘Em Down to Brown’s Bridge, across the lake bridge to Gainesville, turn right on McEver Road to the town of Flowery Branch. It's just 15 minutes by boat when we launch at Two Mile Creek Park and cross the lake.
