Our builder told me that Stovall Nursery was the source of shrubs and trees the builder planted at my home. Needing more, I drove 7 minutes to Stovall ~ it’s near home! I was pleasantly surprised by two things: 1) the selection of shrubs and trees is much better than I could find at any home store, with many unusual choices that make your landscape unique and 2) the prices were much lower than Pike’s Nursery or home stores. Because Stovall focuses mainly on sales to professional landscape contractors, on weekdays there’s no staff to walk about helping you. But they welcome homeowners to shop ~ when you see something you like, go inside the building and ask the cashier to look up the price, then pay, and go back to put your selections into your vehicle yourself. On Saturday mornings their website says they may have staff on hand to help homeowners. Hours are limited and vary by time of year so check their website with the button below. Also, the selection varies often and also by time of year. See something today and it may be gone next week when you return. In addition to plants, they also sell all kinds of landscape materials: stone, timbers, stakes, mulch, soil, sand, gravel, tools, etc. Getting here is quick: right on Mayfield, left on Jot ‘Em Down, at Dollar General go left on Crossroads Rd. to the stop light at GA 400, then when the light changes go straight across 400 for 1/4 mile and Stovall is on the right. Hint: wear shoes made for wet conditions, since their irrigation sprinklers can sometimes make walking about a bit messy.
